Laser eye treatment in London
What is Laser Eye Surgery?
Laser eye surgery, or laser vision correction, is a medical procedure that improves vision by reshaping the cornea with lasers. This technique involves the use of painless lasers to precisely alter the cornea's shape. The surgery corrects refractive errors, thus enhancing the eye's ability to focus light accurately and improving overall eyesight.

What type of laser eye surgery does betterview offer in London?
Our laser eye clinic in London offers three different laser eye treatments; Trans-PRK, Femto-LASIK and SMILE Pro. Femto-LASIK is the most common laser eye treatment and a modern version of LASIK surgery. Trans-PRK is mainly performed when Femto-LASIK is not possible due to reasons such as a thin cornea. SMILE Pro (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is an advanced and innovative laser eye treatment.

Questions and answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Here you will find the most important questions and answers about betterview. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact us directly.
Can I have my eyes lasered?
Generally, about 98% of all 18- to 45-year-olds are suitable for laser eye treatment. Laser treatment is possible for corneal curvature, short-sightedness and hyperopia long-sightedness up to certain diopter values.
Will the treatment last a lifetime?
As a rule, those treated can dispense with visual aids such as contact lenses or glasses in the long term after laser correction. With very high diopter values, vision can deteriorate again—but this is very rare. In most cases, laser treatment can be repeated. However, laser eye treatment does not prevent presbyopia, which occurs around the age of 45. This is a natural sign of ageing that can be compensated for using reading glasses or varifocals or, alternatively, permanently corrected by a refractive lens exchange.
How long does it take until I reach 20/20 vision?
The healing process differs depending on the laser method. With Femto LASIK, the vision of most clients improved significantly the very next day. However, it can take several weeks to months until the visual acuity is stable and the actual final result is reached.
Can I go blind from laser eye treatment?
No, in more than 25 years, there has not been a single case in which a person has gone blind directly due to laser vision correction. The laser works exclusively on the cornea—the optic nerve, for example, remains completely untouched during the treatment. In addition, our state-of-the-art eye lasers are equipped with a so-called eye tracker, which automatically switches off the laser at the slightest eye movement. Eye conditions such as infection can occur after laser treatment. Eye diseases occur very rarely and can be treated.
What happens during treatment with LASIK?
Femto LASIK is one of the most frequently used laser eye treatments in the world. It is completely painless and takes only a few minutes per eye: at the beginning, your eyes are anaesthetised with eye drops. With the so-called femtosecond laser, a circular lid, the so-called "flap", is then created in the uppermost corneal layer and folded to the side. The corneal layer underneath, now exposed, can then be corrected with the excimer laser. Finally, the flap is brought back into its original position. The flap acts like the body's own wound dressing, which is why the healing process is quick and painless. Most clients can enjoy significantly improved visual acuity the very next day.
Is LASIK treatment painful?
No, treatment with the Femto LASIK does not cause any pain. During the treatment your eyes will be anaesthetised with eye drops. Also, after the procedure you will not feel any pain. A foreign body sensation in the first hours after treatment is normal.
